Tampere Boxing Association has a great pleasure to invite the boxers and officials of your team to the international boxing tournament for both girl and boy boxers. The 36th Pirkka Tournament is held on 4th – 5th of May 2024 in Tampere, Finland.

TOURNAMENT RULES

Boxers, age 11-18 years (born in 2006-2013), are allowed to participate in the tournament. All participants must have had at least three official competition bouts.

The tournament will be held in four separate groups:

1)  Youth (A-juniors), age 17-18 year of birth (born in 2006-2007)
2)  Juniors (B-juniors), age 15-16 year of birth (born in 2008-2009)
3)  School boys/girls (C- juniors), age 13-14 year of birth (born in 2010-2011)
4)  D- juniors, age 11-12 year of birth (born in 2012-2013)

* 10 oz gloves will be used in each age group in each weight category except for Youth Men from 71kg up 12 oz gloves will be used.
* It is obligatory to use competition approved headguard, gumshield and protector cup (boys). Boxers with long hair must wear hairnet or cap or other item to control the hair.
* The vest must be the color of the boxer’s corner and contrasting beltline is mandatory
* Manual scoring system will be used in the bouts
* The competitors must have an International or National Record Book with medical examination fully done within 12 months.  

YOUTH FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Boys will compete in weight categories: 51, 54, 57, 60, 63.5, 67, 71, 75, 80, 86, 92, +92.
Girls will compete in weight categories: 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 81.
* Duration of the rounds is 3 x 3 minutes (boys and girls)

JUNIORS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Boys will compete in weight categories: 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, 80+.
Girls will compete in weight categories: 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75.
* Duration of the rounds is 3 x 2 minutes

SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS

Will compete in weight categories 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70.
* Duration of the rounds is 3 x 1,5 minutes

D-JUNIORS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Will compete in weight categories 30, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66.

In  D-junior groups the Finnish technique boxing rules will be followed.
The main points of the rules are as follows:

* The rounds are 3 x 1 minutes for D- juniors.
* The target is to fight three rounds; one must not try to end the bout with heavy blows.
* The winner is determined according to technical skills, heavy blows are forbidden.
* The following technical fields will be judged by points:
A. Blow technique
B. Movement
C. Integrity

The jury of the tournament may form parallel groups if any weight category should be entered by more than four boxers.

REFEREE / JUDGES

The R&Js must have a national R&J license with at least one year experience or international license. It is highly recommended that all the participating teams would bring along a R&J, so the judging would be on a high level.
