Tampere Boxing Association invites the boxers, coaches and officials of your team to the international boxing tournament for both girl and boy boxers. The 37^th Pirkka Tournament is held on 10^th – 11^th of May 2025 in Tampere, Finland.

Programme

TOURNAMENT RULES

Boxers, age 11-18 years (born in 2007-2014), are allowed to participate in the tournament. All participants must have had at least three official competition bouts.

The tournament will be held in four separate groups:

1)  U19, age 17-18 year of birth (born in 2007-2008)
2) U17, age 15-16 year of birth (born in 2009-2010)
3)  U15, age 13-14 year of birth (born in 2011-2012)
4) U13, age 11-12 year of birth (born in 2013-2014)

* 10 oz gloves will be used in each age group in each weight category except for U19 Men from 70kg up 12 oz gloves will be used.
* It is obligatory to use competition approved headguard, gumshield, Velcro bandages and groin protector (boys). Boxer’s hair should be secured appropriately. Long hair should not limit a Boxer’s vision and should be completely secured. Hair extending outside of the headguard must not exceed 5cm.
* The vest must be the color of the boxer’s corner and contrasting beltline is mandatory
* Manual scoring system will be used in the bouts
* The competitors must have an International or National Record Book with annual medical examination fully done.  

U19 FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Boys will compete in weight categories: 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 90+.
Girls will compete in weight categories: 48, 50, 54, 57, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 80+.
* The duration of the rounds is 3 x 3 minutes (boys and girls)

U17 FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Boys will compete in weight categories: 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75, 80, 80+.
Girls will compete in weight categories: 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 75.

* The duration of the rounds is 3 x 2 minutes

U15 FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Will compete in weight categories 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66, 70, 70+.
* The duration of the rounds is 3 x 1,5 minutes

U13 FOR BOYS AND GIRLS

Will compete in weight categories 30, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 48, 51, 54, 57, 60, 63, 66.

In  U13 groups the Finnish technique boxing rules will be followed.
The main points of the rules are as follows:

* The rounds are 3 x 1 minutes for U13 boxers.
* The target is to fight three rounds; one must not try to end the bout with heavy blows.
* The winner is determined according to technical skills, heavy blows are forbidden.
* The following technical fields will be judged by points:
A. Blow technique
B. Movement
C. Integrity

The Technical Delegate of the tournament may form parallel groups if any weight category should be entered by more than four boxers.

REFEREE / JUDGES 

The R&Js must have a national R&J license with at least one year experience or international license. It is highly recommended that all the participating teams would have at least one R&J participating in the tournament to guarantee neutrality and high level for judging.
